Easy to grow hardy native perennial sunflower with characteristic soft, fuzzy hairs on the stems and leaves and classic yellow flowers in late summer. Prefers poorer, drier soils but does well in average garden soils.  Shorter and less aggressive than many sunflowers, but it's best to avoid excessive watering and fertilizing to keep it in bounds.
