American wisteria is a beautiful flowering vine native to the Eastern US.  It is slower growing and much less aggressive than the invasive non-natives Wisteria sinensis and Wisteria floribunda.  American wisteria will climb structures (fences, arbors, lampposts, etc.) and can reach 20 feet if not pruned annually.  Blue to lavender flowers clusters are shorter than W. sinensis or W. floribunda.
